VR (or VR Group, originally an acronym for Valtionrautatiet or State Railways) is a state-owned railway company founded in 1862 in Finland, and which enjoys a de facto monopoly of rail operations in that country, despite privatisation in 1995. The company is no longer responsible for administration, maintenance and construction of the rail network, though. Over the years, VR has published and co-published a number of board games, usually of the children's/family game variety, for promotional purposes.
