Breakthrough Learning, Inc. is a Portland, Oregon experiential learning company founded by Bette Gardner, who created Friday Night at the ER in 1992 and incorporated the business in 1994. Its products are the Friday Night at the ER tabletop simulation game, in which teams of four manage a community hospital through a simulated 24 hours, the METALOG Tools card-based facilitation kits, and Cauzality, an online knowledge-mapping tool.
