About
ASS Altenburger is Altenburg's oldest playing-card manufacturer, tracing its origins to a cardmaker recorded in the town in 1509 and to Johann Kasper Kern's Stralsund factory of 1765, which the site bills as Europe's oldest known playing-card company. The Altenburger Spielkartenfabrik was founded by the Bechstein brothers in 1832, the United Altenburg and Stralsunder factories merged in 1931 creating the ASS brand name, and the business was taken over by the Belgian Cartamundi group in 2002. It publishes its own card-game lines - Stadt Name Land, Mau Mau, Color Addict, Quartett, TOP ASS, Schwa…
