Steidl GmbH & Co. OHG is a Göttingen art and photography book publisher founded by Gerhard Steidl, who began as a printer and designer in 1969 and published his first Steidl title, 'Befragung zur documenta', in 1972. The program moved from political non-fiction and literature into art and photography books from 1994 onward, with world rights to Guenter Grass's work held since 1993 and imprints including 7L, L.S.D. and LittleSteidl.
