About
Distant Seas Publishing Company is a one-person self-publishing operation run by inventor Vernon Paul Rood from Silver Spring, Maryland. It publishes a single title, Distant Seas: The Merchant Marine Game, a merchant-shipping simulation played on a fold-out world map across three historical eras (sail circa 1860, steam circa 1910, and contemporary). The site positions the game as an educational title, stressing classroom applications in maritime history, economics, geography and technology, and sells it direct via PayPal or by mail order for a $30 retail price.
