About

The Society of Ancients is a long-established international amateur society for the study of ancient and medieval military history and wargaming covering roughly 3000 BC to 1500 AD. It was founded in 1965 by Tony Bath and today has a worldwide membership of around 670, run by an elected committee of volunteers and not run for profit. The Society publishes the bi-monthly members' journal Slingshot, organises an annual Convention, Battle Day and a wargames championship, and publishes a small number of wargames with ancient and medieval themes sold through its own store.
