Frederick Warne is a Penguin Random House imprint in the Penguin Young Readers Group, founded in 1865 by a London bookseller-publisher and now best known as the original publisher of Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit, which it published in 1902 and to which Potter left her rights. Penguin acquired Warne in 1983, after which the firm developed classic book-based children's character brands including Cicely Mary Barker's Flower Fairies and Eric Hill's Spot, and produced spin-off editions such as treasuries, board books and novelty titles.
