IO Interactive is an independent video game developer and publisher founded in 1998, best known as the creator of the Hitman franchise, beginning with Hitman: Codename 47 in 2000 and continuing through the World of Assassination trilogy. The studio built its own Glacier engine, which underpins all of its games, and has also developed Freedom Fighters, the Kane & Lynch series, Mini Ninjas and Hitman: Absolution.
