The Weekend Farming Company is a one-product family-owned US business built entirely around The Farming Game, which was invented by Central Washington rancher George Rohrbacher in July 1979 after two droughts threatened his family farm. The first edition was assembled by workers at Portland's Goodwill Industries, and the site credits it with several hundred thousand copies sold and use in schools worldwide; it also notes that in 1994 the World Bank sent Rohrbacher to Russia to oversee the game's translation during post-Soviet farm privatisation.
